Christina Applegate as Samantha who? in "The dog. 4-2-2009" episode.

We as fans of Christina Applegate and her funny new show have been patiently waiting for the new episode to air on ABC. Unfortunately here in the Tulsa Oklahoma area Samantha who? did not air on ABC channel 8 as scheduled last Thursday 4-2-2009 at 7:30 central time. Instead ABC aired a “Elite 8 news channel sports“. This was a great disappointment to all Samantha who? fans, but there was not much we could do about it. This is the bad news.
The good news is that fans of Samantha who? can still see the new episode and all the other episodes online at Samantha who? abc.com. The link is at the top left of the front page of Samantha who? at www.abc.com, and it is called “watch full episodes of Samantha who?”. Here you can see all 25 minutes of each episode, and if you have a high speed internet connection it should be fairly easy to do. For those who only have a regular slow dial-up internet connection, they should probably only watch the short videos (2-5minutes), because the full episodes would take too long. And you can always choose to read a complete summary of each weeks episode right here on this website.
And now to review last weeks “The dog 4-2-2009” episode. This was a another great episode to watch, and it had a lot of interesting events happening. The show began by Samantha finding out that her flower plants outside her window kept dying despite her watering them daily, and Todd informing Sam that her uncle Walter died, of whom Sam had no recollection because of her amnesia. At the funeral Sam briefly got to hold the widows baby and realized that she wants a baby and even her mother Regina agreed that Sam should have a baby because she is not getting any younger. After the funeral Sam thought about adopting a baby, but found that it takes at least 2 years for a adoption so she gave up on the idea. Later she decided to get a small dog from her best friend Dena just to see how it is to take care of something alive. She named the doggie baby. At the same time her parents found out that they inherited a small airplane from the late Walter. Howard was not very thrilled about it, but Regina was excited and decided to take flying lessons because she wanted to fly to exotic places around the world. And Samantha’s best friend Andrea was mistaken by the paparazzo to be pregnant. At first Andrea was furious, but later she was happy about it because she received free gifts from local shops as a new expecting mother.
The show became more interesting when Samantha’s doggie turned out to be a destructive little pooch, who kept her up all night and destroyed furniture and shoes. Even Sam’s neighbors noticed all the nightly commotion from baby the doggie. Todd did not like the doggie at first because he was destructive but later warmed up to him and by the end he even liked him. Later Samantha lost baby the dog at the coffee shop, while she was getting good advise from Frank the door man about the responsibility of having children. At this point Sam had a argument with Todd and she screamed out the window “start the parade, Todd is right”. Later Samantha searched desperately for baby the doggie all over even in animal shelters, she even drew a picture of it which Frank the door man thought looked like a horse. At this point Dena shows up at Sam’s apartment with a doggie toy for baby the doggie. Now Samantha tried desperately to hide that she lost the little doggie and gives all kinds of excuses why Dena can not see the doggie. It was quite comical, Sam even bit the doggie toy trying to make Dena believe that the doggie was in her closet, and she also gave Dena a pink bra as her Christmas present trying to make Dena believe that the doggie was well. At the climax, Todd showed up with baby the doggie and Samantha finally admitted to Dena that she lost the doggie, but it is OK because Todd saved the day and found him on the neighboring street looking into a shop.
At this point Samantha had a another amnesia vision from her past, about her and Todd. In this flash back Samantha thought she might be pregnant so she went to the doctor, but it turned out that she was not pregnant which Sam was happy about. Todd on the other hand wanted to appear that he was also happy about not being pregnant, but secretly he was disappointed. At this point Sam found a book in his bag named “Selecting a baby name” and Todd even marked cute baby names. She also found a teddy bear in his bag, at which point she realized that Todd really wanted a baby, even though he appeared as if he did not. And that was her entire amnesia flash back, except that Samantha thought of a comical name for a person.
In the end, everyone was happy. Samantha’s parents decided to sell the little plane because Regina was afraid to fly it, which was disappointing to Regina at first but later she was happy because she realized that they could take a trip without the plane, like to Atlantic city and other exotic destinations in the world. Howard was happy because he won over Walter and might be getting a pin ball machine, and that he made Regina happy without the plane.
Andrea was at first unhappy because the night clubs would not serve her alcohol because of her pregnancy, so she announced that she was not pregnant and that she is very thin. At the end the tabloids wrote that “Andrea Belladonna is too thin to conceive”, which made her very happy.
Dena was also happy because baby the doggie was OK.
Samantha and Todd were also happy because Samantha finally realized that taking care of another living thing is a lot of responsibility and therefore she decided to give baby the doggie away, which Todd was finally starting to like but he understood Samantha’s feelings. At the end Samantha’s plant flowers were looking excellent and Sam was happy watering them with the help of Todd, until she accidentally dropped a flower pot out of her window which landed next to Frank the door man below. But all was well and nobody was heart.
Finally, Samantha said that “Being a parent is mostly all sacrifice, so until I can give a another person all that it takes I am going to stick with my plants. You can leave these things anywhere and they stay put.”. It was funny because at this point she dropped one of her plants on to the sidewalk next to Frank the doorman, like I described above.
I think that in the future Samantha should have a amnesia memory flashback about a very secret steaming love encounter with a certain boy who nobody knows anything about because he really is a nobody, which happened many years ago, like maybe 15 years or so, one that she has probably forgotten all about because it happened in her early twenties. Maybe the boy should be a country boy just to make things more interesting and they should be the same age. It also might be a good idea if he had some kind of a cool Italian sounding last name like Barilla, and if he originally came from some eastern European country, perhaps even a communistic country like perhaps the Czech republic or Slovak republic, which 15 years ago was Czechoslovakia. It would be nice to see him driving a cool car like some kind of a white mustang with really dark windows just so the two would look cool. Also it would not heart any if the boy grew up to be really unsuccessful and always being overlooked by life like having no money, no good luck, no wife, no children, or even a girlfriend for a long period of time, perhaps the entire 15 years since their secret and steaming romantic love encounter. I thought that him being unsuccessful is a good idea because we always see Samantha’s men being very successful and it would be a interesting change for the viewers. Also just to make it even more interesting they should not be in contact at all during this 15 years or so period of time so there would be more suspense. But the boy, at this point a man should try to get in touch with Samantha but without any success, until Samantha remembers him through her amnesia memory flashbacks and then contacts him perhaps by e-mail, or telephone because they probably live thousands of miles apart, nearly on the opposite sides of the country. For a ending of this idea Samantha and the man should probably be at least friends if not anything more, possibly remaining in contact and helping each other out because they both have good ideas about how to help each others lives. And the man can probably use a lot of good advise and help, because he probably has a lot of problems. But as we all know Samantha has quite a handful of problems her self.
I thought that this would be a good idea for the future episodes because we all know that the public likes a good twisted love story and it would fit well with the plot of Samantha who?. It could even be a movie due to the complexity of the story.
In conclusion, as a loyal fan of Samantha who? and of Christina Applegate, I wish the show a lot of success and congratulate their entire cast and crew on a very successful show. Keep cranking the episodes out and make them good and funny. And to the viewers, keep watching all the new episodes. And remember as the X files show said keep watching because “The truth is out there”.
In conclusion to my article I would like to write a couple of words to my dear friend on the other side of the planet, who lives in Slovakia and who speaks Hungarian and which I have not seen in over 21 years. So the next few lines will be in Hungarian.
